PORSCHE NOTES:

The first car to bear the Porsche name was the model 356. Made entirely by hand in a saw mill in Gmund, Germany, the production run for the initial 356 totaled some 50 cars and took two years to complete. Beginning with the 356, the models that followed were the 356A, 356B, and 356C. Manufactured from 1948 till April of 1965, some 76,313 cars were made, some still running. Perhaps a handful have been maintained in pristine condition.

Porsche would eventually incorporate part of Reutter into the Porsche company. What remained of Reutter became Recaro, the seat making company that continues to this day.

Circa 1958 - Ferry Porsche with eldest son Ferdinand Alexander (Butzi) at the rear of a Porsche Type 356 A. Butzi went on to assume a significant design leadership role for Porsche and later headed the Porsche Design Group. It was he who is credited with designing the 911 however Erwin Komenda, the Body Design Director, who had been with Porsche since 1931, would likely have something to say about this were he able to do so---Komenda departed Porsche in 1966 and died the same year. It is also said that Reutter, a coachwork company across the street from Porsche, participated in designing the body of the 901/911. Originally presented at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1963 in prototype form, the 911 began public sales in 1964.

Your Porsche's performance, safety & value. Preserving these for you is this Master Porsche Mechanic's responsibility. It's a s skilled dedication guided by Porsche owner goals & budgets. Always laid out in advance for approval is project scope, dollars involved, and time frames. During work, findings that are the cause of an issue, or perhaps uncovered and out of scope, are text-messaged so owners have status insight as work proceeds. All work is performed to Porsche Factory Specs unless better is wanted---and better is available on request. Options in this regard are discussed and agreed upon prior to work beginning. Of course an owner can make changes at any time understanding doing so may cause time & cost additions to a given project.
